What can happen if a parent is not paying child support?

If someone does not make the required child support payments in Florida, the state may take one of the following actions: suspending their driver’s license, denying their passport application, issuing an income deduction order so the money comes directly out of their pay checks, intercepting their money through tax refunds, and arresting and charging them with contempt of court. If you have child support ordered based on income you are no longer earning, you cannot just stop paying the ordered child support, you need to apply with the courts for a modification in order to avoid having these terrible consequences.
