John W. Chapman
Bankruptcy, civil disputes, real estate and foreclosure attorney in Stuart
John W. Chapman is one of the founders of Chapman & Plymale Law, P.A. John is a Civil Litigator and Consumer Advocate with extensive experience in the areas of complex civil disputes, consumer rights, foreclosure defense, bankruptcy, real estate and land use. John graduated from the Florida State University College of Law in 1999 with Honors, after serving on Law Review and Journal for Land Use and Environmental Law.
Upon graduation from law school, John worked for one year under the tutelage of renowned Brevard County land use attorney Leonard Spielvogel at the firm of Dean Mead in Merritt Island, Florida. Desiring the opportunity to see things from a judge's perspective, John left Dean Mead for the opportunity to serve as a law clerk for Judge Karla R. Spaulding, United States Magistrate Judge for the Middle District of Florida, Orlando Division.
Upon completing a two-year clerkship with Judge Spaulding, John returned home to Stuart and worked as a litigation associate with Page, Mrachek, Fitzgerald and Rose (“Page, Mrachek“). While at Page Mrachek, John represented clients in complex commercial litigation in state and federal court.
John left his position at Page Mrachek to become General Counsel for a Development and Construction Company based on the Treasure Coast with holdings in multiple states and overseas. While in this position, John oversaw the due diligence on several multi-million dollar land acquisitions and successfully platted and developed several residential developments.
John has also been actively involved in redevelopment projects within Community Redevelopment Areas, which has provided John the opportunity to fully understand the complexities of redeveloping within CRA’s. John’s extensive knowledge of litigation and the development process affords him a unique perspective in handling his clients' various legal matters.
John and his associate, Philip Reznik, have represented hundreds of homeowners in foreclosure defense cases. John is a recent graduate of Max Gardner’s Bankruptcy Boot Camp. Max Gardner is widely recognized as the leading lawyer in America in the areas of Predatory Mortgage Servicing and the collection of discharged debts in consumer bankruptcy cases. His Boot Camps have been featured in the NY Times, the Washington Post, Business Week, and CNN’s “Open House.” Gardner has trained more than 200 consumer lawyers since he first opened the Boot Camps in January of 2006. Gardner says he “teaches the Boot Campers to think like the creditors so that they can beat them at their own game.” Gardner also educates Stuart commercial foreclosure lawyers in federal and state laws and consumer protection statutes to enhance the protections provided by the Bankruptcy Code. Each Boot Camper is provided with more than 3000 pages of documents and forms, Power Point presentations, tools, tips, and other computer-ready documents.
